About Your Fishing Guide

A PERSONAL MESSAGE
FROM YOUR GUIDE, BUDDY DUPELL:
I grew up fishing the
Willamette River, well known for its abundant salmon and sturgeon. While I
was growing and fishing the Willamette River, I did not see too many
fishing guides; however, I do remember seeing a few.
Even when I was about
8-9 years old fishing with my dad I remember seeing guides working the river with their
clients. I recall thinking to myself just
how lucky they where and that there could be no
better job on this earth than being a fishing guide.
Well, here I am,
many years and hundreds of successful trips later, one of the top fishing guides
in Oregon. To be honest, sometimes I still think to myself, I am being paid
to go fishing! I must be dreaming. Yes, I am a very lucky man. I love what I
do, and most people who have fished with me realize there is nothing else I
would rather do. I do not think there is a better way to enjoy the day then
to hook into a big sturgeon or
salmon.
I know what a
lasting and memorable experience it is. After all these years, those fish
still get my heart pounding. In the past 25 plus years, I have learned a
thing or two about the sturgeon and salmon fishing in this area and I would
love to share all of my knowledge and experiences with you. I have had some
great times on the water sharing these experiences and catching, a lot of
fish.
|
I have made it my
commitment to be honest with my customers and yes, I have lost more than a
few trips by doing so. I will not tell them that fishing is great when I
know that it is not, just to book a trip. When I book a trip, I am looking
to build a long lasting relationship with that customer, not just a one-time
trip.
If right now the
salmon are biting better than the sturgeon, I will tell you that. If I
think, your trip will be more successful if you wait a few weeks, I will
tell you that. That is not to say we have not had slow days of fishing.
However, it is not because I was not honest.
I tell people that
it takes three things to catch fish. If we are in the right spot and have
good bait in the water, then we are doing our part. Now the fish have to do
theirs. When you hire me for a fishing trip, I know that it is the goal of
everyone of my clients. To have a safe and exciting day on the water
catching, lots of fish. I will do whatever it takes to make that happen, if
that means getting on the water an hour before the other guides to get in
the prime spot, or re anchoring four or five times to find where the fish
are running I will do that.
When you hire me,
I will do everything in my power to see that you have a safe and successful
fishing experience!
-- Thanks, Buddy
